The Lucas County Agricultural Society and Fair is a local nonprofit organization focused on promoting agriculture and youth involvement in the community. Although the county provides limited financial support to help with operational costs, we are an independent entity and not directly affiliated with the county. The majority of our funding comes from community donations and sponsorships, which support the fair’s activities and events.

Fairs have long been a time for the community to unite and celebrate shared pride. The Lucas County Fair highlights and showcases the hard work and dedication of local 4-H, FFA, and Scouts, who devote themselves to their projects throughout the year.

Much like each community, each fair is unique and holds a special meaning for everyone. For some, it’s about seeing the youth with their projects—whether it’s woodworking, sewing, or a wide range of other endeavors—or watching their animals like horses, calves, pigs, or chickens in the show arena. For others, it’s enjoying the displays of baked goods, quilts, and photography in the open categories. Some come for the tractors or to indulge in classic fair food like corn dogs and elephant ears. While traditional agriculture may not be as prominent in Lucas County as in some surrounding areas, it still plays a vital role in our community. Agriculture is present in many aspects of daily life—whether it’s the food you eat, the plants in your garden, or even in products you might not immediately think of, like the clothes you wear, medical equipment, or even glass! This connection makes Toledo, the “Glass City,” truly built on agriculture. Agriculture is woven into the fabric of our daily lives in ways both seen and unseen.
